Heather Hamilton
CEO of Ty and Jayden,
Founder of Zack’s Dream Room Fund

As a SAHM of 3 boys, Heather had her hands full but she embraced her role as cheerleader, therapist, and nurse to her littlest son with special needs. While this life had its challenges and rewards, nothing could prepare her for the immense loss when he died unexpectedly at 3 years old. Taking what Zack had taught her about overcoming adversity, Heather reached out to social media to share her story and honour her son’s memory. In return the most amazing gift was given back to her; the friendship and support of strangers who had never even met Zack but were inspired by his story. Now her days are spent working to raise money for a local hospital in her son’s
name, sharing his story of hope and courage and relying on the support of others to help her get through the days.

Sara Hodge
Founder
Mums ’n Chums

My name is Sara Hodge and I am the mom behind Mums ’n Chums, a social networking site created especially for parents in North Halton and surrounding areas. Through surveying groups of local parents, I came to realize I wasn’t alone in wishing it was easier to meet other local families for fun social time and lasting friendships. There are lots of excellent parenting sites in the Halton Region- I even joined some of them when my first son was a baby. However, I found that none of them had a focus on North Halton. A support network here was badly needed and so I set out to create it! In addition to our local events, our blog articles, contests and regular chats with special guests have expanded our reach to parents well beyond the Halton border.

We had an incredibly successful first year, adding over 400 active forum members and enjoying many unexpected opportunities, including being able to attend the first ShesConnected conference. Continually improving the site AND growing our parenting community has made Mums ’n Chums a multi-talented social hub and we look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in 2011!

By day, Diana is an elementary French teacher. At home, she is a multi-tasking wife and a mother to two darling children. She is still a wife and mother while at work. She is just less inclined to pull out her hair while on the job. Yet, teaching hundreds of kids who claim they do not know French can be cause enough for hair loss. So how does one find a balance between work life and family life? Or rather, can you? What matters most is that you enjoy the little things. Hence the reason why Diana started a blog, to record memories of her kids as they grow up and to connect with other moms who may also be experiencing female pattern baldness. In the meantime, she likes to keep busy by reviewing family and eco-friendly products as well as attending local events. She also enjoys designing greeting cards and invitations while washing loads of laundry.

Jeannine Miranda
Mommy, Wife, Friend & Blogger
My Bits and Bleeps

I am a mommy to a “tween-aged”, beautiful girl, challenged with ADHD, ODD, and GAD. That is enough to fill anyone’s day; however, I have other duties as well! My four “roles” keep me busy, but I actually love it! Incredibly, the need to find a venue to fulfill my writing needs was filled when I discovered blogging in July 2010. I haven’t looked back since. This past year, I have had a tremendous amount of fun meeting so many fabulous bloggers, and so many fantastic companies/Brands (like our Sponsors) via social media … how can life ever be the same as it use to be? Quite possibly, I have discovered my ‘niche’ in the world.

Having been invited to attend SCCTO 2011, and even to speak on panel, is thrillilng, and is a validation of all of my long hours of blogging. It is an honour to have been asked to speak on panel. This year I am a ‘newbie’; tomorrow who knows?

Shannon Mischuk
Blogger
Shasher’s Life

I am a mom of three sons, ages 6, 9 and 12, and one daughter age 11. My husband and I have been married for 15 years, together we lead a great church in Kitchener, Ontario.

As far as my work life goes:
After working for Financial Institutions for 17 years, in every department known to man-kind, in the fall of 2007 I decided to leave the corporate world behind and be a stay-at-home mom. It was the first time I had not worked outside the home since I started waitressing at the ripe old age of 13.

Needless to say, I couldn’t sit idly by for too long. In 2008 I helped organize a mission’s trip to Durban, South Africa. I spent a month with 19 teenagers from the US and Canada deep in the heart of Zulu territory, helping in hospitals, orphanages and churches.

In April 2009, an online marketing company approached me to head up their Social Media Management division. Together, we developed a phenomenal, one of a kind, total social management / contest platform!

Other Work:

  • Community Manager for Blissdom Canada
  • Public Speaker
  • Publicist for an internationally known actor
  • Published Freelance Writer
  • Entrepreneur

Of course, I get to do all of this from the comfort of my own home!

Raymi Lauren White

Raymi Lauren White
Blogging Pioneer
raymitheminx.com

Raymi the Minx aka Lauren White or, Raymi Lauren, built her brand at the age of 17, spawning raymitheminx.com in 2000. She is a pioneer of blogging and was amongst the small pool of bloggers during its first wave of popularity in 2002, drawing the attention of The National Post and SEX TV. A provocateur savant, unabashed black sheep of the digital age, influencer, trend setter, wordsmith; Raymitheminx.com has been a MUST READ in the Toronto’s hip and in-the-know arena for over a decade. Raymi is on par with media, a notable invitee to all the to-dos, touted as the Penny Lane of Toronto (long time music industry ties), muse to the stars, spearheads a bounty of fellow Little Raymis with copious pop-up copycat raymi blogs. Multiple times over viral, donning garb and trends before you got over the last one. Raymi has singlehandedly made a business of her personal everyday life, is a spokesmodel for a plethora of elite brands and has successfully married her hobbies and passions with business, sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between the two. You need to meet her to fully experience and grasp her special brand. A closet feminist, comedienne, exhibitionist, Raymi wears all hats and didja know, she’s HUGE in the foodie scene too, not to mention, a rapidly budding and requested burlesque dancer?
