Rebecca began her career in media 14 years ago at The Media Company. She first discovered a passion for online marketing in 1999 when she joined Modem Media to become one of only a few digitally focused media planners in Canada at that time. She quickly embraced the pioneering spirit required to navigate, and develop strategic communications plans within a new and untested medium.
She carried this pioneering spirit forward into subsequent roles that were often newly created to address emerging needs in the marketplace or within the organization. Rebecca spent 8 years at Labatt Breweries of Canada where she held many different positions including Media, Brand Promotions, Marketing Operations, Strategic Partnerships and Product Innovation on a National, North American and Global basis. She developed the first Global Media Guidelines for Interbrew’s Flagship brands Stella Artois, Beck’s and Brahma and helped move the organization to a streamlined internal media management model from an externally managed one realizing significant annual savings for the company.
Just prior to joining UM two years ago, Rebecca was building a new branding and marketing discipline within the Astral Media Radio organization. As Director of Branding and Communications she launched the first 4 Virgin Radio Stations in North America and managed values based branding, marketing and corporate communication efforts for Astral’s key English radio B2C and B2B brands.
As VP, Director of Digital Communications at UM Canada Rebecca channels her energy towards ensuring clients are realizing the full potential of the digital medium within their overall marketing and communications efforts. She manages digital talent acquisition and retention, strategic guidance, process and systems, training and education and digital innovation across the organization.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and a Masters Certificate in Internet Marketing from the University of San Francisco. Her house is often full of friends and family, stray animals she’s trying to save and piles of books she’s determined to get to “one of these days”.
