A woman who starts and manages a technology-based startup business company as a sole proprietor or collaborates with one or more co-founders is known as a female tech startup founder or techpreneur. Tech women who have played a pivotal role in developing culture, novel ideas and companies that use technology to solve certain challenges or issues are referred to as woman tech startup founders. They manage and expand their businesses and are accountable for their overall strategic plan. They frequently assume multidimensional technology roles that include marketing, funding, developing products, and establishing a team.

According to experts’ research, entrepreneurs who build and run female technology-driven firms are known as women tech startups. They take part in the processes of risk management, resource acquisition, and opportunity identification. The urge to innovate and launch cutting-edge goods, services, tech companies or tech-based ventures usually motivates these female entrepreneurs. What sets apart women entrepreneurs in the tech sector from others is technology’s key role in their enterprises. These women entrepreneurs use internet-based tools, devices, and software to develop, deliver, and grow their goods or services.

Women encounter numerous challenges while launching and operating a tech firm. Although these obstacles can be tricky, when we support women, they can thrive in these cutthroat professional development opportunities if they have the correct resources and assistance. When determining the most effective techniques for most females in tech businesses, remember the following points.

Finding The Right Social Connection

Insufficient social network is a major problem for women who launch digital startups. Making connections might be challenging in the beginning, but in the global landscape of tech startups, networking is crucial to effectiveness and success. To get past this obstacle, there are several options. Find experts and mentors who can assist with making connections with other individuals in the field first. In order to meet new people, go to industry events and meetups. For the purpose of networking inside the tech startup ecosystem, social media utilization is crucial.

Women would find it more straightforward to socialize and get acquainted with others because they are generally compassionate individuals. They need to take advantage of the situation and use their strength when looking for the proper people to assist them in their startup business. Women business founders also typically develop companies that increase revenue, create jobs, and produce better work since they have historically provided some basic value to society’s mutual connection.

Securing Work-Life Balance

Work-life balance is another challenge that many female employees and female entrepreneurs deal with. This is frequently a problem for women who want to start a business and support a family at the same time or for entrepreneurs who have just finished college and must manage several side projects. There are several approaches to overcoming this obstacle. The first step is to assign specific tasks and duties to keep the emphasis on the business startup. Second, use technology to help in working more productively and manage work hours accordingly. Lastly, it is essential for women to arrange a time for taking care of themselves outside of work and take breaks when needed, especially during their startup struggles.

Women who prioritize a good and healthy work-life balance tend to be more productive at work, have better connections with their coworkers, and have stable mental and emotional health. When women are able to maintain a healthy work-life balance, their productivity at work increases. Thus, two frequent health problems in the workplace—stress and burnout—are lessened.

Fighting Stereotypes

It might be challenging for women in technology endeavors to proceed in their careers since they frequently encounter unconscious biases and misconceptions related to the gender gap. When taking maternity leave, these misconceptions may result in a number of difficulties, including prejudice and suspicion. Being presumed to be less productive in the workplace after having a baby or having to defend time off are examples of this. Consequently, successful women in tech startups must confront implicit prejudice and foster an inclusive and supportive environment. A greater number of possibilities for women in tech businesses will benefit from family friendly policies and the resources these firms need to flourish, given the equal opportunity in the technology fields.

The minority of women frequently experience prejudice in the tech sector, and women are far less likely to be granted equal access to the excellent education, training programs, and mentorship programs that are required to succeed in tech firms. They might experience harassment, not receive equal pay, and be passed over for promotions. Notwithstanding the difficulties, there is a rising movement among digital startups to shatter gender stereotypes and boost the presence of minorities and women.

Contributing Fresh Perspectives And Strategies

All-women organizations encourage collaboration, advancement of abilities, and the development of original ideas. Establishing a warm and inviting environment empowers females to recognize their digital or tech talent. Their distinct viewpoints, life experiences, and insights contribute to the tech industry and help to create more complete and well-rounded alternatives. Women offer a different perspective that stimulates creativity and problem-solving, even in complex or demanding circumstances. Their various experiences and backgrounds will result in more inclusive goods and services that aim to reduce the gender disparity in technology.

The general consensus is that women are better suited for non-technical or soft professions and are less proficient in technology than men. However, these difficulties may have a negative impact on women’s mental health. Consequently, it is critical to encourage and assist young girls to pursue a career in technology by giving them access to the resources and possibilities they need.

Taking Care Of Unmet Needs

Female entrepreneurs are frequently better at spotting unfulfilled demands and difficulties that overwhelmingly male-dominated teams can miss. Their startups can deal with problems regarding the social, educational, and wellness of women. A further reason women might not be chosen for leadership positions is preconceived notions about caregiving or family duties. Working mothers encounter additional difficulties, such as lost pay raises or bonuses, delayed promotions owing to maternity leave, and even the possibility of losing their jobs after their return.

Finding role models for young women entering tech employment is extremely difficult due to the notable underrepresentation of women in the tech sector. Ingrained social standards and societal expectations may restrict women’s ability to seek jobs in technology and entrepreneurship. Gender norms could deter women from pursuing careers in industries where men predominate. Recognizing that female leaders in an organization or community can be sources of inspiration and direction is imperative.

Emphasizing Adaptability

Prioritizing flexibility is crucial when trying to draw in and keep a diverse workforce in the technology sector. Diversity, pay, and a positive workplace atmosphere are also crucial for women in computing. However, employees who value flexibility, remote networking opportunities, and work-life balance as important factors in determining job satisfaction may be willing to make concessions in other areas. Unexpectedly, these characteristics appeal to people on a much wider spectrum. Workplace flexibility is highly valued by all women in the computer industry, not just those who are mothers.

Women willing to take on flexible duties may be able to endure over time, as they can demonstrate and handle even the most demanding tech roles in startups. It’s critical to realize that women can succeed in technology-related fields alongside their male counterparts. Women have the capacity to advance and improve their technological and innovative abilities.

Developing Into A Role Model

Female tech founders are strong role models for young girls and future female entrepreneurs. Their accomplishments inspire more women to pursue entrepreneurship and innovation jobs. Startups run by women make a major contribution to economic expansion. The economy as a whole can gain from higher job and wealth creation through an expanded entrepreneurial sector. Given that women comprise a significant section of the global population, increasing their participation in techpreneurship is crucial for eradicating poverty.

Throughout history, women have led the way in numerous professions when it comes to innovative breakthroughs. New technology and solutions will be developed as a result of their association with tech businesses. As a result, assisting and promoting female technology entrepreneurs is an advancement of human capital. It makes use of a large number of people’s abilities, creativity, and diverse talent.

Getting Into New Markets

Women entrepreneurs in the tech industry frequently launch products and services that target underprivileged and developing markets, extending the scope of technological advances to previously underrepresented groups. Multiple teams and entrepreneurs frequently possess an edge over their competitors in their ability to comprehend and appeal to a wider spectrum of clients. Increased market penetration and efficiency may result from this.

A strong feeling of social duty motivates a large number of women-led technological firms. They concentrate on developing technological solutions that can improve relevant communities, advance long-term sustainability, and deal with social challenges. When negotiating the difficulties of entrepreneurship, women entrepreneurs in the field of information technology often demonstrate resilience and great leadership abilities. Their various leadership philosophies might improve the business environment.

Last Words

In summary, it is not only a question of equity but also a strategic necessity for women to lead digital startups. Their presence helps create more inventive, diverse, and long-lasting digital ecosystems that can propel social and economic advancement. A more positive, more varied, and wealthy future is something that can be invested in by inspiring and assisting women in digital entrepreneurship.

Hopefully, this information will motivate and encourage women to launch their own tech businesses.

Learning And Understanding The Consumer Behavior In Business Endeavor

The rise of e-commerce over the past few years has resulted in a significant shift in online shopping demeanor. Shopping online is quickly replacing traditional shopping at brick and mortar stores as the preferred method of buying for shoppers  worldwide. These growing new trends gained further momentum during the worldwide outbreak of the pandemic.

The importance of consumers' behavior in e-business

According to a report on information and communication technology, many internet users worldwide took over the charts as they prefer to purchase products online due to the digital age. The advancements in e-business are the main reasons underlying this continuing development of buying goods. Customers no longer need to leave the house for their shopping needs. E-commerce businesses have revolutionized how customers shop by putting the shopping experience at the consumers’ fingertips through desktop and mobile devices. With that, let’s understand the most significant ways that e-commerce has altered emotional connection and consumers’ purchasing behaviors.

E-commerce businesses that want to succeed must comprehend the new patterns in customer purchasing behavior brought forth by the pandemic. The motivations behind customers have changed over time. When considering the complete online purchasing experience, knowing customers’ current expectations is essential. Also, it better recognize what more online retailers can do in light of this sudden and significant change in e-commerce businesses to match the new shopping expectations aside from the usual brick-and-mortar shopping.

Online Consumer E-Commerce Behavior

The process through which customers choose which things to buy in an online store is known as online consumer behavior.

The actions themselves, such as determining whether to buy something or identify an issue, are determined by constantly adapting demands and expectations. Even while every customer has unique needs, some commonalities among contemporary expectations shape online consumer behavior today. Customers then put extraordinary and erratic demands on the online store to deliver the goods they had previously bought in an in-person store.

Consumer purchasing decisions when buying products online are influenced by expectations such as availability of products, shipping transparency, reasonable shipment, and a quick shopping experience. These expectations also have an impact on whether or not shoppers will stick with a company after making an order. E-commerce sites inevitably began to adjust to this innovative, increased demand. However, there was a shift in customer satisfaction and expectations for what an online shopping experience is supposed to provide, in addition to increased demand for items.

These new expectations brought about different developments in online consumer behavior. The vast majority of loyal customers continued to use e-commerce for their purchases even when physical stores started to reopen. Customers found aspects of online buying enjoyable that were absent from the conventional in-store purchasing experience. These satisfying online shopping encounters additionally aided in establishing new, durable patterns in customer behavior.

Technology’s Effect On Business

The ability to shop from any place, at any time, is one of the reasons that influence consumer behavior or e-business has placed on consumer shopping behavior. Customers can now make purchases without waiting until the store’s opening hours. While it has long been possible to conduct research and make purchases online, the availability of mobile devices has elevated e-commerce to a new level since customers may utilize them at any stage of the sales cycle. Customers utilize mobile devices for a wide range of purposes, including finding new items, managing shopping lists, finding items and comparing pricing, reviewing products, and making purchases.

The distinction between an online and physical business has become increasingly unclear due to the growth of e-shopping. To maximize the buying experience, both methods can be utilized in combination rather than separately. Businesses that have managed to make the shift have started selling goods on social networking sites, developed applications, and improved their online stores.

They have granted customers the freedom to choose when, where, and how to purchase goods by doing this. Online shoppers can order products at midnight, have them delivered the next day, and then return them to a physical store if unsatisfied with the item. Thus, proving the potential to provide a more seamless buying experience is the strength of mobile e-business.

E-Commerce Consumer Behavior

Convenience Is Vital

Acknowledging these fresh developments and implementing company strategies to satisfy online consumers’ expectations for a convenient shopping experience is crucial to the success of online shopping. One of the main conveniences for customers is the option to look around an online store and check out as a visitor. Furthermore, customers regard their entire purchasing experience as easier and better because the fewer forms they have to fill out, the greater the probability they will return.

Simple Access On All Platforms

A significant portion of internet buyers look for a smooth transition across devices during the purchasing process. Nowadays, it’s actually expected that customers would be able to seamlessly go from one device—like a desktop to a mobile device—during their purchasing process. Customers should be able to check out using the personal information they already provided on the device they used to finish their purchase history—even if they completed it on a separate device—as part of this cross-device transaction. E-commerce websites must be responsive to mobile devices and simple to navigate on smaller screens since an increasing number of customers are making purchases online via smartphones.

Availability Of Omnichannel Retail

A web page that is challenging to use or browse may annoy visitors and result in fewer sales. However, because they have access to so many technological possibilities, shoppers are “always on” during their purchases. Nowadays, the majority of shoppers multitask while they shop—for example, by reading through social media. Additionally, consumers now anticipate that the media outlets on which they spend most of their time will feature their favorite e-commerce companies. This maximizes efficiency by guaranteeing that customers never have to travel away from their preferred and reliable platforms when making purchases.

Pricing

In e-commerce, pricing strategies can significantly affect customer behavior. For instance, providing a discount or holding a sale can persuade customers to buy. Nevertheless, charging less for an item can deter buyers from buying it. Usually dynamic pricing is another kind of pricing that e-commerce merchants or multiple channels employ. This is the process of changing prices in response to changes in demand and supply in an instant. E-companies can use data analytics to track customer behavior and modify prices as necessary. This may be a useful strategy for boosting revenue and enticing customers to buy.

Brands

It is often said that acquiring new customers is more difficult than occasionally winning back current ones. Developing brand loyalty is essential to an e-commerce business’s long-term viability. Like anything else, building a relationship with a brand ultimately boils down to comprehending the cognitive processes of the customer. A vendor may be able to charge more if their product is rare or of superior quality, but it’s crucial to know what buyers are prepared to spend. The customer will get confidence and strong favorite brands and loyalty from the company if every interaction feels individualized.

Fast And Trustworthy Delivery

The majority of customers worldwide believe that having quick delivery alternatives is essential when making an online purchase. Because of this, many e-commerce companies provide quick 2-day shipping and have a scattered system of logistics centers where inventory is distributed to help save shipping costs, expedite the delivery process, and satisfy customers. Many customers have given up on purchases due to e-commerce companies’ need for delivery transparency since online shoppers also highly demand it.

Effortless Payment

It’s critical for online retailers to evaluate all facets of the customer experience when devising strategies to meet changing consumer expectations and consumer behaviors. Online services that offer convenience are what customers look for during the whole purchasing process. The ease of use of payment alternatives encourages customers to make choices quicker and may even persuade them to buy more extensive items. As part of that end-to-end buying accessibility, customers search for online shops with simple-to-setup payment processors that also approve popular payment methods — including “buy now, pay later.”

Client Support

A company’s social responsibility helps to create products that are of quality and promotes a positive customer impression of the enterprise that is consistent with its beliefs. However, how your company handles customer service matters the most when it comes to how the consumer perceives your firm. Customer service refers to how company personnel handle customer complaints regarding the product availability or delivery method. To meet consumers’ needs, care personnel will be better able to respond appropriately if there is a documented standard for addressing typical client complaints. Customers will undoubtedly always feel safe and well-cared for with that.

Final Thoughts

Success in e-commerce depends critically on being abreast of online consumer trends. Retailers who want to grow their clientele, retain existing patrons, and boost profits must comprehend the changes in consumer purchasing behavior. Technological developments and shifting customer tastes will significantly impact the future of online shopping and consumer behavior. Companies must keep innovating and adapting as more customers shop online to suit their requirements.

Entrepreneurs need to comprehend the psychology of online shopping and the variables that impact consumer behavior. Businesses may boost sales and revenues and draw in more clients by utilizing this knowledge to enhance their web stores and marketing efforts and plans. E-shops can enhance their online presence and thrive in the highly competitive e-market by utilizing key tools such as influencer marketing activities, consumer experience, proof of value, exclusivity and importance, pricing tactics, and customer reviews.

Jealousy

How do you define jealousy? What makes jealousy obvious? When does jealousy begin?

I seldom feel jealous…Jealousy comes in many surprising ways.

There were only two reasons my best friend and I would break the no-calls-past-midnight rule. It’s either there was an emergency or something bothered someone mentally.  When I answered the call and ensured it was not the former, I asked,

“So, what’s keeping you up tonight?”

“I got a promotion at work today. I am the new supervisor in my department,” my friend said.

When Does Jealousy Begin At work? How Do You Manage Insecure Employees?

The word jealousy is a complex emotion with a long history in clinical psychology. While envy involves a desire for something that someone else has, jealousy is typically focused on protecting one’s own possessions or relationships. Jealousy can be a painful emotional experience, especially in the context of sexual infidelity. Reactive jealousy can lead to damaging behavior, including anger and sadness, and may require therapeutic intervention to address. In some cases, jealousy may be a sign of deeper insecurities or issues with trust and affection.

I instantly felt happiness for my best friend. I witnessed how much she busted her butt off to get into that digital marketing company. But I found it odd that her tone did not reflect the good news that she had just shared. That’s something I pointed out, and my best friend took it as a cue to finally talk about what’s bothering her – extreme romantic jealousy.

Source: pexels.com

The “Jealousy Bug”

As we were talking, she said, “It was my coworkers, you see. Of course, we were not best friends but friendly at work. As soon as the boss announced my promotion, I saw their strained smiles and claps. During the coffee break, they did not invite me to get up and go to the pantry, which they usually did. I even found them huddling there, but they dispersed and pretended nothing happened when they saw me.” That reeks of envy if you ask me.

“I understand,” I said carefully. “It seems like your coworkers have caught the jealousy bug.  Envious feelings occur more often than you think, even if you do not mean to seem above them. You should relax your mind, knowing that you did not use hocus pocus to get that promotion.”

Our call ended at that, but I could not help but feel sad for my best friend for becoming a victim of jealousy.

Sometimes, envy even causes workplace bullying, which pushes someone to get depressed or have suicidal thoughts. Envy occurs anytime because it is a complex emotion that feeds on fear, insecurity, threat, unhealthy emotions, unsecured romantic relationship, and danger. It affects behaviors, understanding, and compassion towards things that matters in a valued relationship.

Source: pexels.com

However, I would have preferred more in an ideal circumstance if the person with sexual jealousy would come to my office for mental help. That happens once in a blue moon. But thinking about it, if there are no people with envy reigning over them, there might be fewer bullied people on the planet.

If the person reading this blog has ever felt that envy jealousy of a coworker, here are a few healthy tips on avoiding valued relationship jealousy over that newly promoted person.

Feeling Envy At The Workplace

Social comparison theory is really at the root of abnormal jealousy in the workplace. The significance of this hypothesis is that we match ourselves up against others (like our collaborators or romantic relationships) to comprehend how we’re doing, and our view of that correlation directly influences our mental self-image. This way, when your romantic partner gets recognized or promoted, it is hard not to see their prosperity as your failure.

Know When You’re Envious

The primary thing you need to do is to stop denying your jealousy of someone else’s success. I know how challenging that can be to say out loud, but you should at least be able to admit your jealous feelings.

For example, jealousy is a common experience in life and often has roots in perception rather than reality. While jealousy can be a normal part of romance, it can also lead to hurt and suspicion. Learning to cope with jealousy can involve examining one’s own insecurities and addressing feelings of inadequacy. At a certain point, jealousy can become harmful and lead to losing the very thing one is trying to protect.

Source: pexels.com

Recognizing jealousy allows you to assert your own goals. After all, you don’t have jealousy of something that you do not want. Still, instead of trying to bring the successful person down, you should use your jealous controlling behavior to feed your determination to be better than them in a different way.

Jealousy can also manifest in sibling relationships, leading to feelings of resentment and competition. While jealousy over romantic partners often involves fears of being unfaithful, sibling jealousy may be driven by a desire for attention or recognition by one party.

It is important to address jealousy in any relationship, as it tends to be destructive. However, in some cases, jealousy may be a natural and healthy response to certain situations, and it is important to examine the root causes to determine the best way to address the matter.

Count Your Blessings Instead Of Being Jealous

We experience jealousy on a whim sometimes. Jealousy is like a childish part that makes them think, “All for me; nothing for others.” People experiencing jealousy do not aspire to have the job of the newly promoted person, but they’re jealous anyway.

There’s always something about a jealous person. His or her extreme jealousy involves a perceived threat that ruins the interpersonal relationship. If the feelings of jealousy become uncontrollable, jealous behaviors then promote own insecurities, low self-esteem, physical infidelity, emotional infidelity, and more internal damage.

Jealousy arises when there’s a lack of self-esteem. In some cases, it makes a person feel threatened as they believe their partner has someone else. Jealous people root for jealousy and envy.

If you ever go through that jealous phase in your romantic relationship, you have not counted your blessings in a while. It would help if you often did that because of jealousy towards the wrong individuals. For instance, while jealousy is their only win, you are ahead of them by five or ten goals. Once you realize that, you may feel like a fool as jealousy shouldn’t even take place.

Source: pexels.com

Always Be Humble

Assuming your aims are no different from that of your newly promoted coworker, you may be unable to keep yourself from jealousy. I would like you to be honest about that person’s traits that are perhaps better than yours while straying away from jealousy

Say, are they friendlier than you? Do they pick up new information faster than you? If the answer is yes to any or all of them, you have your work cut out. You can observe how your coworker those things or ask them directly to take you under their wing.

The key is to perceive the conditions and characteristics in others that trigger your jealousy. Inquire whether your sentiments uncover what you are generally upset about. Recognize the perceived threats that set you off to feel jealousy and focus on emotional infidelity.

When you precisely distinguish the things that set you off, you can start to tame jealous sentiments before they transform into counterproductive reactions. You can likewise zero in on working on yourself in the areas you’ve found you care about most.

Final Thoughts For Your Success

Jealousy, though considered one of the difficult feelings to carry around, is a normal emotion that we all feel when another person appears to be better than us. However, instead of letting it fuel your hatred towards the newly promoted person at work, you should use jealousy to find your success. Jealousy shouldn’t hinder you from striving.

Happiness: Meaning of Happiness

The Amazing Feeling Of Seeing Jolly People

I used to think that digital marketing was a female-dominated area around the world. However, I eventually realized that the men behind those ideas were merely banking because women were far more likable than men in general (does this bring life satisfaction to women?!).

learned all about this from my twin sister, who decided to break the stereotype and start her digital marketing firm. Of course, it raised eyebrows in our family. It took her guts to talk about it. But our parents supported her as much as they supported my life satisfaction and decision to change and exercise my career from medicine to counseling a few years back.

I should say that my sister’s successful business took off smoother than anyone expected. Then, a boyfriend came. To find happiness and fulfillment, it should become your desire at the moment.

Sister’s Happiness

My twin sister called me early in the morning one day, sounding extremely giggly and full of positive emotions. She couldn’t contain her excitement and her positive well-being is showing off. She said that she found the overall life satisfaction and love of her life. I heard that line way too much since our teenage years, so I told her to hold her horses and leave at least 1% of herself to herself just if this golden guy turned out to be brass like the others.

Sis, I hear you, but believe me when I say this is the one for me,” my sister insisted. “ Her happiness measured high and was almost annoying! But hey, there’s contentment there. Perhaps it will bring good things and positive emotions.

I wanted to point out to my sister that the last question made her entire statement less believable, but as her family, I was expected to give her new beau the benefit of the doubt thinking, “All right”. “Just promise me you won’t forget what I said about keeping 1% of yourself.”

knew I had no right to stop her from her personal growth, life satisfaction, and being happy, but I was actually scared of that — it was as if nothing could go wrong despite individual differences.

But There’s A Big Hurdle

Everything was excellent in my sister’s relationship, and there was no thought of wrong things. Her overall happiness was showing along with personal growth and self-care. However, other things changed when they thought of bidding for the same project in Manhattan. It is where they understand that people strive for new things, new circumstances, and small pleasures.

When I asked my sister about it, she said that it was all out of pure fun. “Whichever company wins, we will be happy for each other. Who knows, perhaps we will do a merger if we end up getting married,” my sister explained, giggling. She was sure about the future of her possible marital status.

Of course, I decided not to focus on negative thoughts and stress about it. For one, it was not my place to dictate how my sister should run her social relationships. Secondly, I try to be very understanding because of how competitive she could be. I didn’t know that the levels of happiness would eventually subside and cause her decreased physical activity and emotional state.

Source: pexels.com

And as if I was a fortune teller, I saw my sister’s latest ad on a massive digital billboard on the freeway one day (another reason for me being happy). I called my sister to congratulate her on her victory, but I answered with sobbing. I realized then that my levels of happiness and positive emotions had been replaced by frustration.

Even without my sister confirming the reason for her negative emotion, I already expected the worst. Then, once she said that her boyfriend broke up with her when he learned about his company’s loss, I was no longer surprised by the lack of a positive effect.

Happiness For Others

How To Feel Content When Others Win In Their Life Circumstances

My sister’s relationship and life satisfaction (and supreme delight) were a lost cause at that point, but if you want to know how to be happy when others win in meaningful life circumstances, you should:

According to experts and new research, to avoid emotions ranging, happy people tend to stop making comparisons between others, and their subjective well-being, and live their own lives. For example, most people have a different winning strategy and life satisfaction for healthy relationships and good lives. Same as everyone that has different measurements of contentment, negative affect, and positive feelings. Not everyone can be satisfied with the same things.

In seeking happiness, people report that you should be grateful for the other wins you have experienced. You may have lost now, but you have probably won a lot before, too, which should build up pleasure, desire, and positive emotions.

Research shows that you should look up to the winning happy people instead of drowning yourself with jealousy. In a more general sense, The human nature of most people includes doing something amazing, and you should learn how they did that for joy, pleasure, self-esteem, personal growth, and more positive emotions.

Frequently Asked Questions About Depression And Social Media Use

There is no stopping the internet in today’s generation. Everything about a person’s life is, in fact, visible on social media. Almost all individuals post and share their stories with the hope of influencing others in society. There is nothing wrong with that, though. Anyone can do whatever they desire as long as they are happy with what they do. Unfortunately, despite the benefits of other platforms’ engagement in social media, a lot of individuals are getting more affected emotionally and mentally. This isn’t because they are not active in social interaction or anything, but because too much time is spent on platforms like Facebook and other social media sites, and not everyone can handle it, leading to depression and negative mental health outcomes.

Social media has been a place where people’s problems build up. There are insecurities, jealousy, rejection, impulsiveness, violence, cyberbullying, emotional torture, lies, and too many expectations that can lead to depression and other challenges. With all those negative things going around, people’s mental health has a hard time keeping up with what genuinely matters in real life – true happiness.

Behind The Captivating Uploaded Stories And Pictures

As we all can agree, not all the things we see on social media are, in fact, the truth. Some are fake content, and people are only using such different platforms to gain fame and money. Some use social media to gather attention, while others rely on its availability for the sake of validation. But what is more damaging is the effect of social media on those individuals who have already put their lives on it. Those are the people who cannot identify reality from fantasy. It is such a shame that social media has become one of the main sources of emotional and mental health problems despite bridging the gap between people (such as friends as well as family members).

The Impact Of Social Media And Depression

Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses in the world, ranging from mild to severe, with a potentially devastating effect on those who suffer from it. Social media, which connects young adults in unprecedented ways, can have both positive and negative consequences for individuals experiencing symptoms of depression.

On one hand, social media serves as a platform for social interaction, offering comfort and connection to some individuals. They can express themselves and share their stories with the world, fostering a sense of belonging. However, it can also be a double-edged sword, creating a false sense of connection and belonging. People often find themselves comparing their own lives to others, leading to unrealistic expectations, self-doubt, inadequacy, and sadness — a painful link between social media and depression.

On the other hand, online communities can also be a great way to find support and understanding. People tend to reach out to one another and find a community of people who understand what they’re going through. It can be a great tool for connecting with mental health professionals and finding mental health resources to help with depressive symptoms, fear of missing out, body image concerns, and the time spent on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

No matter how the internet is used, it is important to recognize the potential risks associated with it. It can be a powerful tool for those struggling with mental health issues, but it can also be a source of negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is important to be aware of the potential effects of internet use and to be mindful of how it is impacting your mental health.

Coping With The Mental Health Condition

There are many ways to cope and stay connected with others. It is important to find activities that bring joy and comfort and to reach out for help when needed. It is also important to take breaks from the Internet and to find other outlets for expressing oneself. Taking time to reflect on one’s mental health and practicing self-care is essential for those struggling.

It is important to remember that social media does not define our worth. We are not defined by the number of likes or followers we have. Everyone is worthy of love, support, as well as understanding, regardless of how big their online presence is. What matters the most is to make your mental health a priority and then reach out for help when needed.

A Word Of Advice About Online Platforms Use

Social media is a powerful tool and can be used for great things, but it can also be a source of anxiety and depression. Be mindful of how it is impacting our mental health. We should take care of ourselves. We should strive to find balance in our lives, to find activities that bring us joy and comfort. We should also remember to reach out for help when needed, as there is no shame in seeking help for mental health challenges. Social media can be a great tool to stay connected, but it should not be the only source of happiness. With the right tools and resources, we can all find a way to manage it in healthy, positive aspects. One should have healthy internet use in place.

How Does Addiction To Online Platforms Cause Mental Illness?

Using social media more often causes a lot of mental health-related challenges. Teenage and young adult users substantially experience unbalanced emotional and mental health, including feelings of dissatisfaction, inadequacy, and isolation. In turn, these feelings negatively affect their mood, which aggravates symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression.

Based on a daily dose of high expectations and out-of-reach life standards, social media is killing people’s happiness in life. It ruins satisfaction and contentment by somehow promoting lies and deception.

What Percent Is Caused By Online Platforms?

In several recent studies, social media causes negative effects on a person’s well-being, particularly jealousy, depression, and anxiety. There is a 13 to 66 percent or even higher rate of reported mental health problems than those who spend less time spent with social platforms like Instagram and Facebook.

How Do Online Platforms Help Mental Health?

Social media is an excellent platform that offers people the chance to connect with others despite being far away from each other. Often, it serves as an outlet for those with mental illnesses to express themselves without revealing their identities. There is enough anonymity that takes away the stress, pressure of judgment, as well as criticism of others. These platforms allow individuals to develop their self-awareness while also improving self-expression.

Looking thoroughly, social media intends to end perceived social isolation. But unfortunately, some individuals are using it the other way around. Instead of taking advantage of its purpose for self-expression, it becomes their escape from hiding what they genuinely think and feel.

Do Online Platforms Contribute To Mental Health Struggles In Youth?

While social contributes to a certain number of benefits, too much of it still damages mental together with emotional health, particularly in youths. Usually, the online space makes teenagers live in a different world. They tend to experience feelings of self-doubt, insufficiency, discontentment, and isolation. These emotions trigger the warning signs and often lead to self-inflicting harm, sometimes even suicide.

Which Country Has The Highest Rate?

The World Health Organization (WHO) listed Ukraine, Colombia, the Netherlands, along with the United States as the country with higher prevalence estimates of depression. Meanwhile, Asian countries, particularly Japan, are considered the least depressed country with a diagnosed rate of individuals of less than 2.5 percent of the whole population.

How Is Internet Use Bad For You?

With the booming of new technology, there is still little research to establish and determine the long-term consequences of too much technological use, particularly with internet use. That is because multiple studies show a strong link between heavy usage of social media and an increased risk of mental illness such as loneliness, anxiety, depression, self-harm, or even suicidal thoughts.

Honestly, from a wider perspective, social media is not that bad. There are tons of benefits to using it. However, to some people dealing with mental health challenges, social media can be dangerous as it can trigger even unnoticeable depressive symptoms.

How Does It Affect Your Brain?

Research shows that social media affects the brain differently. A good example is the brain chemicals stimulation when a person posts a picture and then gets positive feedback. There is the release of dopamine that rewards own behavior and carries on social media habits. Thus, this particular increase in brain chemical levels results in much the same way that addiction works with things like shopping, alcohol, drugs, and gambling.

Does The Internet Make Us Lonely?

Few pieces of data link social media to loneliness. That is among heavy social media users, particularly teenagers who often think their lives are not as perfect as others. Social media can change how people integrate their decision-making skills into their lives, impacting isolation as well as loneliness. These may include online spaces that are often oriented to status, and performance, along with exaggerating favorable yet unrealistic qualities. Why is social media bad for teens?

Too much use of social media can be dangerous as well as unhealthy for teens. The habit has been linked to feelings of inadequacy, envy, and less satisfaction with life because of some unrealistic representation of what life should be all about. Teens are more concerned with what other people think, making them even more susceptible to mental health conditions. Social media’s negative impact on teens usually ends up with an increased level of self-doubt, a possible implication of self-harm, and constant thoughts of suicide.

How Long Do Teens Spend Time Browsing Online Platforms?

American teenagers usually spend an astonishing nine hours a day with their digital devices. These kids entertain themselves by listening to music, streaming videos, playing games, or watching movies. But more than half of 54 percent of teens, particularly 12- to 15-year-olds, spend too much time on their cellphones browsing social media platforms like Instagram & Facebook. These teens are the ones that are twice as likely to experience loneliness, anxiety, isolation, anti-social behavior, and other mental health struggles.

What Is Healthy Screen Time Per Day?

Expert encourages teens and young adults should spend at least two hours a day an acceptable amount of screen time. No screen time or digital use should be given to children under two years old,  while limiting only an hour a day for kids 2 to 12 years old.

Source: pixabay.com

What Are The Symptoms Of Too Much Screen Time?

Too much screen time’s negative side effects include physical strain on your eyes and body, increased risk of obesity, sleep deprivation, and impaired socializing skills. It also contributes to chronic health conditions, weakened emotional judgment, as well as delayed learning in young children. In some instances, it also leads to attention problems, anxiety, and other mental health problems.

Is Screen Time Linked To Depression?

Youth’s increasing depressive symptoms can be associated with many things. However, increased screen time is generally linked to progressively inferior psychological well-being. Rather than alleviate negative thoughts and feelings, an individual often feels more anxious, depressed, or lonely after spending time or too much attention on social media.

Does Screen Time Affect Mental Health?

A study found that the relationship between screen time and mental health diagnoses, particularly depression and anxiety, occurs in young people who spend seven hours or more a day on their screens. These kids are more likely to get easily distracted, become less emotionally stable, often experience difficulties finishing important tasks, and find it difficult to make friends.

Why Is Technology Bad For Your Mental Health?

Technology itself is not bad for people’s mental health. Instead, it is the usage that makes things more complicated. The relationship between technological use and both physical and mental health outcomes relies solely on digital addiction. Therefore, if individuals do not notice emotional, physical, and mental strain, things can lead to a severe overall health condition.

Understanding Depression: Frequently Asked Questions About Its Warning Signs

A happy woman working on her laptop.

I have been in the digital marketing industry for more than six years now. I started as a content writer for an agency that created websites for different companies. After a couple of years, I applied to another agency to become a social media manager. A few years later, I felt like I had the necessary connections and knowledge to open my own digital marketing firm, and I did it.

Many people praised my decision to do so. Most of them said that it would mean an addition to the handful of lady bosses in the industry. After all, even though it was about marketing products and services, it was still a male-dominated career. Some folks admired my guts, considering I did not have formal training as a digital marketer. They were correct about that – I learned everything through experience. Others would even jokingly ask me, “How can I be like you, Andrea?”

I would smile in reply and talk about the importance of having a competitive team to back you up to all these. It was mostly true – I might have gotten nowhere if I hired people who did not know what I asked them to do. As for the last question, when it was only my husband and me, I would answer, “Try dealing with depression and using digital marketing to save your butt.”

Opening My Version Of Pandora’s Box

It was in middle school when my sleeping and eating patterns began to shift. My parents maintained that I should sleep at nine o’clock on school days so that I would look – and think – my best in the morning. I followed that rule like any obedient daughter would for a few months. However, the more rigid my lessons became, the harder I found it to fall asleep quickly. Because of that, I turned to read my favorite book series – Harry Potter

Whenever my parents would close my bedroom door, I would keep my eyes closed until I heard theirs close as well. Then, I would jump out of my bed to get a book from the series and read until three o’clock in the morning. I could sleep for three hours after that before Mom would wake me up to prepare for school.

I did that secret routine up to high school. By that time, I was already a fast reader to the extent that I could finish a 300+-page book in less than six hours every night. When I got slightly bored with the Harry Potter series, I moved on to the Twilight Saga, which is supposed to be a long read, too. My friends envied me for having such skills and not getting caught by my parents once.

When I went off to college, I agreed to take up Chemistry, even though I wanted to take up Communications. I excelled at sciences, and I honored my parents’ words that I could still go to writing workshops if I wanted to be a writer later. As expected, the more semesters I dealt with, the more challenging my classes became. In my third year, I had already lost complete interest in Chemistry and asked my parents if I could shift courses, but they said no. “Finish Chemistry first, then we’ll talk about that,” Dad said firmly.

Being stuck in classes that I did not care for and resenting my parents for not listening to what I wanted to do in life caused me to slip into depression. I lived in the dorms, so it was easy to skip classes or pretend I was in one when Mom or Dad called. I would still go to class sometimes, but that’s only to take exams. This new routine went on even to the next semester, though I didn’t go to classes at all. I also shut my friends/classmates out and didn’t answer calls from anyone.

I isolated myself because I was feeling so stressed out and pressured. At that time, all I knew was that being away from the crowd and not mingling with others was the solution that could save me from despair. However, I didn’t know it would be the start of more destructive habits.

How did I not end up killing myself, you might ask?

The Warning Signs

I was on the verge of doing that, frankly speaking. I would not sleep or eat for as long as I could. It’s not that I did not want to sleep or eat; it’s just that the voices inside my head were somewhat paralyzing. I would try to decipher them in the morning, and then I would eventually realize that the day had passed me by already. The only way to lessen the noise was to write my problems in a notebook until they stopped.

I was becoming unreasonable, and with the depression, my situation got worse sometimes; even if I openly wrote about my struggles and feelings, it didn’t help. And even if I try to re-focus and work on the things that will make me feel better, such as listening to music, making art, and painting, these things do not work. I am not okay, and I know that. I acknowledge the fact that I am mentally and emotionally unstable, and I lack the confidence to deal with my issues accordingly.

After doing that self-destruction for a couple of weeks, I began to struggle mentally and emotionally extremely. This is when the warning depression signs become more apparent.

When I couldn’t find a way out, I told myself that it was about time that I sought help. I found the courage to talk to my parents about everything. I expected them to disown me, but I was surprised when they both hugged me and apologized to me for going through that on my own. I shed buckets of tears that day, too, since I felt a heavy weight lifted off my chest. Then, when they asked what I wanted to do, I said that I wanted to try writing for a living. As people said, the rest became history.

Talking About Depression

I still find it challenging to talk about depression in person, but I would love to use this chance to write about it instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are The Five Major Indications Of Depression?

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) outlined the following as the five major signs of depression:

  • Persistent feelings of emptiness, hopelessness, and sadness
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in things and activities once enjoyed
  • Loss of appetite or weight
  • Sleep disturbances (excessive sleeping or insomnia)
  • Noticeable fatigue

Other signs of depression include difficulty remembering, concentrating, and making decisions, intense feelings of guilt, and worthlessness.

In severe cases, a major depressive disorder can also cause recurring thoughts of death or suicide and suicide attempts.

Experiencing some or combinations of these symptoms in more than two weeks is considered a depressive episode. However, only a professional healthcare provider can accurately diagnose and prescribe the right treatment for the condition.

How Is This Mental Health Problem Confirmed?

Depression is confirmed after a thorough assessment by a health care professional, usually a psychiatrist or psychologist. They use a comprehensive evaluation of the symptoms, medical history, and psychological factors of the patient. They use the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria (as mentioned previously) to determine whether the symptoms meet the qualification for a depressive disorder. They use standardized screening tools and questionnaires to gather detailed information about their patient. With that said, to get an accurate diagnosis of the condition, it is crucial to be open and honest during the evaluation process and the right treatment plan.

What Are The 3 Ps Of This Mental Health Issue?

The 3 Ps of depression stand for Persistent, Pervasive, and Personal. These are used to understand the nature and impact of the mental health condition.

Persistent means the depression symptoms are enduring, typically for at least two weeks.

Pervasive means the symptoms affect various aspects of a person’s life, including behaviour, mood, thoughts, and overall function.

Personal refers to the subjective experience, which is unique to each individual but influenced by multiple factors, such as perceptions and circumstances.

What Test Is Used For Diagnosing This Mental Health Problem?

It is important to note that there is no single specific test used by all healthcare professionals in the world that can definitely diagnose depression. Rather, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc., use a combination of different methods to assess whether the mental health condition is actually depression.

The combination of tests includes a thorough evaluation of the symptoms, medical history, and psychosocial factors. Clinicians often use standardized questionnaires or scales, such as the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) or the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), to assess the severity of the symptoms. For a more accurate diagnosis, healthcare professionals use these assessments as screening tools, not as a standalone diagnostic test.

Looking At A Woman’s Mental Health Wellness While Working In A Male-Dominated Industry

Millions of people look for job demands every day. Some are fresh graduates; others already have years of experience under their belt and run seriously complicated struggles. Some want a career change; others wish to resume what they have started but have had to hold off due to personal issues. Despite that, if you look at various essential data, you will notice the lack of gender inequality challenges in a few enterprises.

One particular thing I am talking about is my female friend’s experience while trying to earn money. Since many dominated industries were not hiring en masse, she decided to become an Uber driver to generate income for her bills. Her chosen work time was between 9 P.M. to 2 A.M., assuming that commuters would pay extra at night.

The Importance Of Learning And Understanding The Need For Overall Wellness And Balance

As it turned out, though, my friend got at least one canceled trip or two every night. She wondered initially if it was because the would-be passengers chose to walk or grab a taxi. However, after meeting other male Uber drivers and hearing that no one ever declined their services, she realized that seeing her gender segregation must be the problem. After all, men have more confidence in driving than women– studies have proven that, and many people believe it. It does not matter to them if the same studies claim that women are safer drivers than men.

Is It Really That Unfair?

If talking about women and men, of course it is! Transportation is not the only male-dominated industry across the globe. You can hardly find women employees as construction workers, miners, computer programmers, engineers, or software developers.

It is not due to women’s lack of interest in those fields but about the physical health. Many strive to work in such industries out of love for them to secure workplace mental health and get rid of workplace stress despite male dominated occupations.

Nevertheless, male-dominated industries were not 100% impenetrable. Some accepted women due to their incredible skills; others did it to avoid getting labeled as gender-biased. Either way, the women had to work harder than everyone to keep up with men dominated work or prove that they were better than the latter.

How Does It Affect A Woman’s Cognitive And Emotional Wellness?

Men and women and different. But in all fairness, since women pretty much expect some form of gender discrimination in their chosen fields before they get hired, they prepare themselves for it early. Because of that, misogynistic colleagues or biased bosses could not always affect their mental health and well-being and make them want to quit. Some even managed to earn the respect and admiration of their male colleagues or coworkers to the extent aspects that they were treated as “one of the boys.” That seems to be the highest compliment when women work with guys since they are seen as equals.

The problems merely appear when a weak-hearted woman starts working in male-dominated field out of sheer desperation to find a job. When they feel less recognized or appreciated than their male counterparts, they cry in the bathroom or curse everyone behind their backs. If the promotion goes to someone else, they get upset and hand over their resignation letter. Then, they develop depression and do not want to work with men again.

How Should A Woman Think While Working In A Male-Dominated Industry?

From the get-go, women need to know their rights as an employee, especially if they are working in male dominated industry. For instance, if the men receive X amount of bonus, they should also get the same amount. If a higher position opens, everyone should be able to apply for it and be considered relatively. Once women working experience discrimination in a male dominated occupations, they can appeal to the executives or go straight to government officials who handle such risk problems.

Women should not tolerate emotional or verbal abuse either. Although it rarely occurs in well-established industries these days, there are still some unique cases where women get taunted or treated as inferior by men and sometimes even experience sexual harassment. Instead of taking it all in quietly, afraid of losing your job, you need to speak up and inform the authorities about it. That’s the only way for them to prevent them from treating other women like that.

Consequently, it is wrong for women to expect to receive special treatment in a male-dominated industry because of their gender. You are entitled to different benefits, such as having a separate bathroom, for sure, but your workload should be similar to that of others. Doing otherwise will create patterns of discriminatory ways toward male employees, especially if you hold the same positions.

Final Thoughts And Takeaway To Consider

Many women cannot stand understanding and working in male-dominated industries; that’s why some have banded together to create their own industries. Since their talents cannot shine in those areas, they make sure to build a platform for themselves where no one will feel like they can be bossed around due to their gender. For that, everyone is proud of your workforce accomplishments.

In case you are still in a male-dominated industry, though, ask yourself: “Am I treated fairly here?” “Do I get the same privileges as my male counterparts?” “Do they respect me as a person, not just as a woman?”

If you can answer ‘yes’ to everything, that’s awesome! It practically means that your coworkers are #woke and know how to treat gender and people equally. If one or all your answers are ‘no,’ then it’s time to say goodbye to them and carve a new path for yourself. Trust me. It will be better for a woman’s mental health in a male-dominated industry to go elsewhere — emotionally too.

When You Have Family Business To Promote But No Budget For Marketing

So, my sisters and I finally had enough funding to open the pastry shop that we all had been dreaming of ever since we were little. Jo, our eldest, secured a small establishment in a strategic location downtown, which meant that it had the potential to be frequented by walk-in customers. Sally looked for retailers of baking equipment that we needed to create our tasty products. As the youngest, my job was to ensure that the shop would look as cozy as possible.

Precisely three weeks before our target launch date, we realized one problem: we did not have a budget left for marketing purposes. Most of the money went to the ingredients, tools, packaging, and rent. We decided not to hire people and take care of the business’s front and back ends on our own to reduce our expenses, too. But it was clear how essential it was to promote our pastry shop, especially when our long-term goal was to become everyone’s go-to place for baked goods.

After much deliberation, we tried the following to market our family business:

Campaign Online

Opening an account on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media channels is free unless you choose to pay for advertisements that will make your brand visible in the newsfeed of thousands of people. It may not be necessary, though, if you have many personal friends there who can share posts regularly. This way, their subscribers can find you and ideally help you level up the business in the future.

When we promoted the pastry shop online, my sisters and I baked everything we wanted to sell and took pictures of them. Then, I set up a business page on Facebook, where we posted some of those images every other day, complete with quotes or invitations to our launch. Our efforts paid off when many individuals liked and shared them.

Create A Blog

If you are not aware of the entrepreneurial trends, businesses always create a website and have a section for blogs. The topics revolve around the company’s success, why their products are the best, and other stuff that may be relevant to their target market. The said articles silently answer the question, “Why should I buy anything from this brand?”

A blog is an excellent platform to introduce your products, specifically how it can improve your consumers’ lives. Once our website was up, Jo and Sally took turns writing about every baked good on the menu, which we genuinely learned from our Mom and Gran. I posted web links to our social media pages, and even folks we didn’t know messaged us about how the blogs entertained or inspired them.

Make A Moving Billboard

Considering you do not have a budget to pay bus companies to cover their vehicles with your logo, you can still create a moving ad by wrapping your car with it and driving all over the town. The flashier, the better.

In case it does not seem enough for you, feel free to form attention-grabbing designs that you (and possibly your friends) can hold or wear on the streets. Flyers and small banners are excellent examples of that; printed T-shirts would be ideal, too.

Either idea results in a makeshift billboard that passersby will want to pay attention to with or without a traffic jam.

Go To Events

Many shows and trade fairs take place throughout the year. It will be fantastic if you get invited to speak to these occasions, but assuming that you are a budding entrepreneur, you can set up a booth at such events to meet probable clients. The atmosphere rarely goes bad there since everyone maintains an open mind about new merchandise. Prepare your business card beforehand if you have time, too, just in case individuals want to see more of your goods after the show.

Considering you cannot get a slot in such events, you may try promoting the business at any social gathering you go to. For instance, during a family reunion, we brought a table full of our products. We did not sell them at that time, but we made sure to add our logo on every item so that it would be visible when cousins take a selfie with the pastries.

Send Out Freebies

Whenever someone avails your products or services, it may be better to give them a small gift with every purchase. This giveaway will have a double purpose, of course. It acts as your token of appreciation and a way to entice them to buy the bigger version of the sample.

Once a customer’s bill exceeds $25, they could get a free cookie or brownie. We did not have money to customize pens, spoons, or anything else, so we stuck to our guns. Luckily, everyone loved the free goodies and told their friends—potential customers—about our pastry shop.

Final Thoughts

Marketing was more challenging for us than baking, even though the latter could mean hours of kneading and mixing and waiting for the dough to be perfect. Still, we did not let our shortcomings prevent us from making our dreams come true.

If we could market our family business without a massive budget, you could do that, too. Good luck!
